Il y a six ans, on aurait fait des pieds et des mains pour assister à un concert Anticon, on se démenait comme on pouvait pour choper les dernières sorties du label. A l’époque, le premier album de Them et le « Bottle Of Humans » de Sole ont sonné comme un détonateur. Aujourd’hui, Anticon n’est plus à présenter. Le label, comme ses artistes, ont réussi à convaincre tout le monde, même la presse la plus difficile, leur talent et penchant novateur font des émules, et les concerts français ne manquent plus. Tout cela devait se fêter le plus dignement possible, c’est pourquoi sort ces jours ci une compilation catalogue rétrospective à petit prix, histoire de remettre les pendules à l’heure de ceux ayant loupé quelques étapes. Car en effet ici, on retrouve les plus belles heures du label. Finement enchaîné, le tracklisting n’omet pas le meilleur du passé comme du présent, à savoir les « Watching Water » et « Unseen Sights » d’Alias, « D.Mothers Of Invention » de Deep Puddle Dynamics, « Bottle Of Humans » de Sole, « Hahaha/On My 19th » de Why?, « It’s Them » de Themselves, « Crack Pipes » de Sage Francis pour n’en citer que quelques uns. Une bien belle réussite que cette compilation mixée comprenant tous les titres ayant renforcé les uns après les autres notre enthousiasme et changé fortement notre vision du hip hop. Un disque avant tout destiné à ceux possédant peu de pièces de la discographie Anticon, puisqu’ici les inédits se font malheureusement rares. Mais ce n’était pas le but..
